Nature and Surroundings
Het Grote Veld is a historic heathland landscape of 420 hectares and offers an oasis of tranquility in the Achterhoek: owls, roe deer, foxes, bats, and many species of birds of prey live around Deurnink. From the guesthouse, your walk or bike ride begins right in their habitat, and you can join the many cycling and walking routes (including the Central Netherlands Route and the Pieterpad) that pass through here. In the summer, swim in the swimming and recreation pool “In de Dennen” 3 km away, or in bad weather in the indoor swimming pool “De Beemd” 6 km away. Or go canoeing on the Berkel, or horseback riding in nature. Or visit the Lochem Golf Club with 18 holes, 2 km away. Vorden also has 8 castles (some of which can be visited), a train station, bicycle rental, excellent dining options (including Hotel Bakker), and terraces. Visit the town of Lochem 7 km away, or the Hanseatic city of Zutphen 11 km away, or the MORE museum in Gorssel. How we started
In 2020, we instantly fell in love with this unique spot in the heart of nature at Het Grote Veld. The farmhouse, the guesthouse, and the grounds were clearly neglected, but we saw right through the potential beauty and charm.
After purchasing the property, we spent nearly four years restoring everything to its original state, but using modern construction methods. Construction company Ruiterkamp from Vorden took on this challenge with us, and we are very satisfied with the final result.
We want to let other nature lovers share in the enjoyment by making the guesthouse available for holiday rentals for a few months a year.
